R. McMahon Watchmakers Pty Ltd covers all pre-owned watches for 24 months. Where the warranty differs, it will be clearly noted on the product information.
We have a policy that there is no transferable warranty for either the restoration or the sale of watches, unless we expressly in writing, transfer the warranty to a second party. We do not restore watches or polish watches for re-sale to other watch dealers. Please note, if you have been told R. McMahon Watchmakers have sold or restored a watch, without our written authority, please contact us. We only service or restore for R. McMahon Watchmakers.
All of our pre-owned watches are fully checked by our Watchmaker and expert staff and we are confident you are receiving a quality product fit for its intended purpose. A vintage or second-hand watch is not the same as a new piece from the watch dealers, but with our expert restoration, we strive for excellence and strive for the best results for vintage pieces.
Our warranty covers the mechanical function of the watch and warrants that it will run to manufacturer's specifications for recent models. In the case of vintage mechanical watches timekeeping of up to +/- 30 seconds a day can be considered normal. For older watches a minute or more may be considered normal. Chronometer certified watches should run within -4/+6 secs per day however this will depend on how you use your watch and the external forces it is subjected to, and age of the piece. A 1980's chronograph shouldn't be expected to in every day wear be at full chronograph standard.
Please ensure you have adequate insurance if you are sending a watch to us for repair or return. We never cover insurance for watches sent to us or return freight. If insurance is required for return postage is required, we will quote on a case by case basis. Our return address is PO Box 1447, Adelaide 5001.
When purchasing a pre-owned product, buyers should be aware that it will have signs of use. We aim to accurately describe every watch we sell, we ask buyers to carefully read our descriptions and look at photographs before purchase. All photographs on rmcmahon.com.au are of our stock and not taken from generic online references. Our warranty does not cover any of the following - wear and tear, accidental or deliberate damage caused by impact. We do not cover scuffs, scratches, dings or dents. Damage or loss to bezels, pushers, crowns, crystals, bracelets or straps, buckles, clasps or tangs is specifically excluded from this warranty whether accidental or otherwise.
Cover is for mechanical issues, and covers the watch should it need regulating, servicing or otherwise repairing to ensure time-keeping and function within manufacturer's specifications taking into consideration age and condition. In other words, you should not expect a 1970 Rolex Submariner to run exactly to manufacturers original specifications but you should if the watch is much newer. We try to implement a common sense policy and do what we can to ensure our customers are happy.
We ensure all watches with a water resistance rating are pressure tested to that rating built within the last 10 years. No pre-owned watch is covered for water damage. We strongly advise that watches with claims of being waterproof are only used in water whilst within the manufacturers' warranty period and after then should be tested regularly and then used when sure the watch is water resistant. Never open your watch and assume it will remain water resistant.
All warranty claims must be raised with R. McMahon Watchmakers Pty Ltd as soon as possible and certainly within 7 days of the customer becoming aware of a problem. The watch must be returned to R. McMahon Watchmakers at the customer's own expense. R. McMahon Watchmakers will check and, where necessary, repair the watch and return it to you at our expense.
Where a watch-case has been opened by either the customer, a repairer or other third party, the R. McMahon Watchmakers Warranty will become void.
Service repair and restoration is intended for our personal clients with whom we engage directly. As such, we do not extend our warranty to other watch dealer's clients and we do not accept transfer of warranty as we do not service watches for commercial purposes other than our own.
All warranty work will be carried out by the R. McMahon Watchmakers Watchmaker, other competent third parties or manufacturers or their representatives as nominated in writing by R. McMahon Watchmakers Pty Ltd.
We offer a full credit or exchange on all Pre-Owned watches we sell. Customers have a three day consideration period from the time of delivery. Buyers must contact us within 3 days of receipt by either by writing or email if they wish to return a purchase. Our watches are all clearly labeled with case diameter, we do not exchange just because the watch is smaller than you thought it would be or because of scratches on cases or dials, photos on our site are part of the description and we sell vintage watches, not new stock. We count the three day period from the time the package is signed for when delivered. Once 3 days (72 hours) has passed the sale is final and no exchange will be offered. For interstate clients exchanges and credit will be at our discretion.
Should a purchaser wish to return a watch, having notified us of their intent to do so, they should post or send the watch by Platinum Express post or courier with adequate insurance cover. Watches must be returned to us in the exact same condition as received. If the watch has been worn, other than for appraisal purposes, or damaged in any way, no exchange will be offered. We supply photos of our watches to the best of our ability. We only sell second hand watches, we do not give refunds jus because you change your mind.
All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST where applicable. To insure against erroneous pricing, until such time as R. McMahon Watchmakers Pty Ltd. emails the customer to advise of an order being accepted we reserve the right not to accept the customer order.
Prices quoted include insured delivery to Australian addresses. Customers will need to sign for receipt of goods. We will not allow alternative representatives to sign for deliveries. Dependent on value and destination we ship by Australia Post or insured courier service.
We no longer ship overseas. Interstate clients, EFT only. No credit card payments.
